I was gifted this vanity and when I sanded it down to the raw wood, IT WAS GREEN. I was horrified. So you know what I did? I painted it and stained it as dark as I could. HA!
Then, I learned this little method to neutralize green wood. I just had to refurbish this piece again… and I think you’ll like this second makeover BETTER than before!

Core Materials Used

- Sander: Dewalt Palm Sander
- Sandpaper: 220 grit
- Safety Protection: Hardy Gloves
- Scraper: Husky Paint Scraper tool
- Cleanser: Bar Keeper’s Friend
- Cloth Handtowel
- Tap Water
Sand

Do all your sanding beforehand and make sure it’s a clean surface.
Sprinkle Product

Do all your sanding beforehand and make sure it’s a clean surface. Sprinkle Bar Keeper’s Friend on the green areas.
Spritz With Water

Generously spritz the area with water.
Work Into Area

Work into the area in a circular motion.
Wait for it to dry.
Scrape Away

Gently the dried product scrape away.
Clean

Wipe away excess with a damp cloth.
Finish Sand

Softly sand with 220 grit. (The chemical reaction that neutralizes the green appearance doesn’t go very deep. If you sand too much and start to see any spots of green, just repeat this process!
